There be previews

My sincerest apologies for breaking momentum with updates, I had a few issues with Premiere and exporting these films.

So, to make up for it, here are three animation tests from my Major film "There be Monsters." Animated in Flash.

Audrey animation test

Gizzard expressions/reaction test

Monster animation test

These are obviously still rather rough, requiring tweaks, cleanup, colour and effects, but I think this provides a decent insight into my progress.

I have about half of the film animated this way now, but this will be the only previews you see for a long time until the film is released.

Next week: we're going to explore a more analytical side of animation, taking a look at one of my favorite studios.

Take care friends!

Charming animation

Oh, sorry I appear to have mislead you, it's "Charmer animation"...what do you mean did I do it for a clever title? I don't know what you're taking about.

Yes Charmer the goblin finally has his little flash appearance all cleaned up and finished, check out the line-work (with construction underneath) and the coloured version right here:

This is a real victory for me. As somebody who was new to this style of flash animation at the start of the year, to become this in the space of a couple of months is phenomenal. I shall strive to improve even further.

I opened my eyes...and where was I?

My final contribution to a collaboration organized by a friend. This time we have Mary and Thomasina from the Disney feature "The Three Lives of Thomasina."

I decided to draw them in my own style this time, as I was curious to see how they would appear.

I am rather impressed with Thomasina, but Mary looks slightly rigid and her smile is a bit crooked (though that may be down to me flipping the image, which shows I should probably do that anyway to see if my characters appear natural at both angles.

Now, I did promise that next week would be "There Be Monsters" work, so , as I am so excited to post this, this week you can also have a little surprise.

Marvelous pigs in satin

A drawing I did for my friends collaboration on DeviantArt (the same one my drawing of Lilo came from). This time I did the Glowworm from the classic stop-motion film "James and the Giant Peach"

I adore this character, really quite fun to draw a stop-mo puppet too. While she could have appeared more natural (she looks a little too rigid around the arms) and the fabric looks too blocky and flat for my liking, I do love how her face and hair came out.

My final entry to this collab shall appear next week, and then we'll take a trip back to the dark depths of "There be monsters."

Until then, pip pip cheerio!
